Der Freischutz in full score /
First performed in Berlin in 1821, Der Freischütz is recoognized as the wellspring of German Romantic opera. Is was immensely influential in subject matter, atmosphere, orchestration and other musical aspects on all later German operatic writing, including Wagner. It is still quite popular.
