The book reveals the lifestyle of people living during the Industrial Revolution in the United States. An American Tragedy (1925) is the story of a youth of unstable character trapped by circumstances that lead his execution for murder. This novel predicts the economic crisis of the 1930´s as a result of the failure of many people to achieve the American Dream of material success |
