Summary: | This project is directed to teachers who work with eight and nine-year- old children who may face difficulties to develop students´ reading skill, at early stages in order to become proficient and independent readers. One important thing that teachers must consider is that every child is unique and that each of them has his or her own previous knowledge and experiences about a topic. Based on this consideration, teachers may no forget that reading is a teachable skill that requires strategies to be learnt, techniques to be applied, and activities to be performed. My project presents first of all a theoretical background that all teachers should be aware of. Experts acknowledge their theories and we should involve our every daily activity with a theoretical support. Therefore, scaffolding is the major concern I have developed through all the activities as a technique that will lead students to become independent readers throughout lots of input. Finally, teachers should also take into account that children need to work with meaningful and interesting activities that generate motivation to read for pleasure rather than for obligation |
