Description
Summary:This work proposes some activities based on music: Musical Dictation, Blanks, Strips on paper, Guide Fantasy, Relax Music, Match the song, Karaoke, for teaching English as additional methodological. Each one had been selected directly from students' views, interests, and likes. Moreover, we designed the activities based on some theories and authors such as: Jerome Bruner, Steven Krashen, Selinker, Richards, Luckhart, Gardner and Lambert, Taylor-Mernay, Rheault, Harmer, Luckmani, Hussin, Maarof, D'Cruz and Kabilan. Besides, the aim of these activities is to develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through interesting, colorful, and motivating topics. Vocabulary is also developed through the presented activities. The three stages of listening activities are mentioned on this work, too. Therefore, this work presents some strategies which can help teachers to perform the activities based on music. These strategies are Top-down (Predicting or anticipating, inferring meaning), Bottom-up (Listening for specific information, Listening for details, Listening for the main idea and Listening for opinion). Finally, we hope that teachers and students of English will use this work as a supportive material in their English classes
