Objectives: To determine the knowledge, attitudes and practices about cervical cancer in
students of the ninth and tenth cycle of Medicine at the University of Cuenca, 2022.
Methods: A quantitative, descriptive and prospective study of the knowledge, attitudes and
practices on cervical cancer was carried out, through the application of questionnaires to the
students of the ninth and tenth cycle of the Medicine career of the University of Cuenca, the
data they were analyzed using the SPSS 2021 statistical package. The results were presented in
simple and double-entry tables using frequency and percentages, and the analysis was
performed using descriptive statistics.
Results: according to the sociodemographic characteristics, the mean of the age variable was
23.8 years, 65.38% of the population corresponds to the tenth cycle, the female sex
predominates, 83.97% of the population reported belonging to the urban area, 97.44% of the
population is single, 1.92% is married, 96.15% has no children. Regarding knowledge, they
have a high level, represented by >70% of correct answers, (84.02%), attitudes correspond to
53.53% classified as a regular attitude level and with a level of adequate practices, represented
by 55.11% of correct answers.
Conclusions: in the study group it was evidenced that the level of knowledge is high, attitudes
are regular and appropriate practices and contrasting our study with the other two local
investigations, differences were found in terms of knowledge, attitudes and practices, in relation
to at the academic level and cultural practices. |

Antecedentes: El cáncer de cuello uterino, constituye la cuarta causa de muerte en mujeres, se presenta con más frecuencia en países en vías de desarrollo, conocer los factores de riesgo, un diagnóstico temprano y manejo adecuado, reducirían las tasas de mortalidad. Objetivos: Determinar los conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas sobre cáncer de cuello uterino en estudiantes de noveno y décimo ciclo de Medicina de la Universidad de Cuenca, 2022. Métodos: Se realizó un estudio cuantitativo, descriptivo y prospectivo de los conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas sobre cáncer de cuello uterino, mediante la aplicación de cuestionarios a los estudiantes de noveno y décimo ciclo de la carrera de Medicina de la Universidad de Cuenca, los datos se analizaron mediante el paquete estadístico SPSS 2021. Los resultados se presentaron en tablas simples y de doble entrada mediante frecuencia y porcentajes y el análisis se realizó mediante la estadística descriptiva. Resultados: según las características sociodemográficas, la media de la variable edad fue 23.8 años, el 65,38% de la población corresponde a décimo ciclo, predomina el sexo femenino, el 83,97% de la población refirió pertenecer a la zona urbana, el 97,44% de la población es soltera, el 1,92% es casada, el 96,15% no tiene hijos. En cuanto al conocimiento, poseen un nivel alto, representado por >70% de respuestas acertadas, (84,02%), las actitudes corresponden a 53,53% catalogadas como un nivel de actitud regular y con un nivel prácticas adecuadas, representado por el 55,11% de respuestas correctas. Conclusiones: en el grupo de estudio se evidenció que el nivel de conocimiento es alto, las actitudes son regulares y las prácticas adecuadas y contrastando nuestro estudio con las otras dos investigaciones locales, se encontró diferencias en cuanto a conocimiento, actitudes y prácticas, en relación al nivel académico y prácticas culturales.
