description | The content of this project is based on the study of role play as a technique used to achieve communicative competence in an EFL classroom. First, Piaget s constructivist theory is briefly analyzed to give an idea of the importance of methodologies that include real situations in the process of learning a language. The themes of Second Language Acquisition and Communicative Competence are treated, too. The first one refers to the process of learning an additional language after we have learned the mother tongue. The second one has to do with the management of a second language in a significant way: Learners achieve the target language according to the circumstances in a natural manner. The central part of this work is role play: What role play is, the reasons to use it, how to choose the appropriate one, what to do before, during, and after it, its classification as well as the advantages and limitations. Finally, the analysis of the theory and the authors experiences as teachers have resulted in a series of suitable role play activities for high school students |
